Who we are

Built On Decades of Specialized Fire Protection Expertise

Spectrum Fire Protection is a family-owned, OCFA-approved fire protection contractor serving every commercial property type across Orange County since 1987. While Orange County is our primary servicearea, we also serve commercial properties throughout Los Angeles,Riverside, and San Bernardino counties on a scheduled basis. We'relicensed under both CSLB C-16 (fire protection) and C-10 (electrical),with California State Fire Marshal classifications for fire extinguisherservice (E-2293) and fixed fire suppression (A-0448).

What separates Spectrum from most fire protection contractors is six interconnected fire protection divisions under a single license : fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fireextinguishers, fire suppression systems, fire pump testing, and firehydrant flow testing. One contractor, one phone number, onecompliance partner for everything your property needs.

That structure isn't accidental. It was engineered to give commercialproperty owners exactly what most fire protection contractors fail toprovide: complete fire protection accountability, with no subcontracting, no handoffs, and no gaps in service.

Our Story

39 Years of Continuous Service in Orange County

A fire protection contractor that has held the same license number, without a single suspension, revocation, or disciplinary action, since 1987. Here are the milestones that built the company you're working with today.

1987

The Foundation Is Established

Spectrum's founder, Samuel K., entered the Orange County fire protection industry in 1987 and began earningmanufacturer certifications across every major fire suppression brand of the era. The company was initiallyestablished under a different name and operated as a specialized fire suppression and extinguisher servicecontractor, building the foundation of relationships with OCFA, local fire departments, and commercial propertymanagers that still anchor Spectrum's business today.

1987 - 2003

Specializing in Commercial Fire Suppression

For its first 16 years, the company specialized in commercial kitchen fire suppression systems and portable fireextinguisher service. That work gave Samuel direct hands-on experience with every generation of fire suppressiontechnology, from the first-generation systems of the late 1980s through the modern UL 300 systems used in OCcommercial kitchens today. That depth of specialized experience remains a core advantage Spectrum brings toevery restaurant, hotel, school, and commercial kitchen we serve.

2004

Re-Established as Spectrum Fire Protection

In 2004, the company was formally re-established under the name Spectrum Fire Protection. The sameownership, the same operational standards, and the same team continued under a name that better reflected thecompany's expanding scope of services. That same year, Samuel obtained the California State Fire Marshallicenses for fire extinguisher service (E-2293) and fixed fire suppression systems (A-0448), positioning Spectrum tolegally service every type of suppression system installed in Orange County commercial properties.

2006

Earning the C-16 Fire Protection Contractor License

In 2006, Spectrum obtained the CSLB C-16 Fire Protection Contractor License #886810. This is the primarylicense required to lawfully install, modify, and maintain fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, fire standpipes, andintegrated fire protection systems in California. This single credential expanded Spectrum from a specialized servicecontractor into a full-spectrum fire protection design and installation firm, capable of taking on projects fromthe smallest tenant improvement to multi-million-dollar new commercial installations.

2006 - 2024

Building the Six-Division Structure

Over the next two decades, Spectrum deliberately built out a six-division fire protection structure covering firesprinklers, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, fire pump testing, and fire hydrant flowtesting. Each division was added with the goal of giving commercial property owners a single licensed contractorcapable of handling every fire protection requirement on their property. This structure is what enables Spectrumtoday to manage portfolio-level fire protection programs for property managers, multi-site owners, and largecommercial properties under one consolidated service plan.

2025

Adding the C-10 License for Full Fire Alarm Capability

In 2025, Spectrum obtained the CSLB C-10 Electrical Contractor License, completing the licensing required todesign, install, and service fire alarm systems entirely in-house, without subcontracting electrical work to aseparately licensed company. Fire alarm is now Spectrum's fastest-growing service division, on track to becomeone of our largest service categories in the years ahead.
