Fire extinguisher services faqs

How often must I service my fire extinguishers?

NFPA 10 requires monthly visual inspections by your staff and annual professional inspections by a licensed contractor. Hydrostatic testing is required every 5 years for wet agents (K-class, CO2, water, foam) and every 12 years for dry chemical (ABC). We track all these dates for our clients automatically.

Do you service K-class kitchen extinguishers?

Yes. K-class kitchen extinguisher service requires the State Fire Marshal A-0448 license, which Spectrum holds. We service every K-class extinguisher in every Orange County commercial kitchen, with documentation accepted by the Orange County Health Department and all OC fire authorities.

What documentation will I receive after service?

Every extinguisher receives an updated certification tag with the inspection date, technician name, and service performed. You also receive a written report listing every extinguisher serviced, its location, condition, and next service due date. Reports are accepted by all Orange County fire authorities, insurance carriers, and the health department.

What if my extinguisher fails inspection?

If we find any deficiency during inspection (low pressure, damaged seal, expired hydrostatic test, etc.), we address it on the spot whenever possible. For issues that require off-site work or replacement, we provide a loaner unit at no additional charge so you remain compliant during the repair process.
