Six Fire Protection Divisions Under One License
Orange County enforces some of California's strictest fire safety codes. Here is what your commercial property must comply with, and the certifications Spectrum Fire Protection delivers to keep you ahead of every inspection and deadline.
NFPA 13 - Fire Sprinkler Systems
Every commercial sprinkler system in your building must be designed and installed to the national standard. We handle new construction installations and bring older systems up to current code so your property stays fully protected and inspection-ready.
NFPA 25 - Fire Inspection & Testing
Keeping your sprinkler system working takes more than installing it once. We inspect, test and maintain your water-based fire protection on the schedule your insurance company and fire authority require, and you get the documentation they ask for every time.
NFPA 10 - Portable Fire Extinguishers
Which extinguisher belong in your building, where they must be mounted, and how often they need servicing are all covered here. Our State Fire Marshal license (E2293) authorize us to certify every class and type used in commercial properties.
NFPA 72 - Fire Alarm Systems
Your alarm system is the first line of defense that detects fires and alerts occupants in time. Our C-16 and C-10 license authorize us to design, install and maintain every part of your alarm system in-house, including ongoing monitoring services.
NFPA 17A - Kitchen Hood Suppression
If your property has a commercial kitchen, the suppression system above your hood is required by code and inspected on a strict schedule. Our A-0448 State Fire Marshal license authorizes us to install, inspect, and service the UL 300 systems your restaurant or food service facility must have.
CCR Title 19 - 5 - Year Certification
California requires every water-based fire protection system to be fully certified every five years. This is a deeper inspection than your annual check, and we handle the full certification including internal pipe inspection and complete documentation.

WHY THESE CREDENTIALS MATTER
Most property owners think of licensing as a checkbox. The reality: each credential unlock different work and protects you against different risks.
Installing or Modifying Sprinklers
Requires a contractor holding a current C-16. Without it, no permit can be pulled, no work can be inspected, and your property will fail any subsequent fire marshal inspection
Adding or Replacing Fire Alarm
Requires both C-16 (fire protection) and C-10 (electrical), or a separately licensed C-10 subcontractor. Spectrum holds both, eliminating coordination across multiple contractors.
Commercial Kitchen Operations
Your kitchen hood suppression must be serviced every 6 months. Your K-class extinguishers must be inspected annually. California requires different licenses for each (A-0448 and E-2293). Spectrum holds both and handles them together.
Working Under OCFA Jurisdiction
OCFA has its own submittal process, plan review standards and inspection expectations. Contractors who know the process get permits approved faster and pass inspections on the first try. We work with OCFA every week.
Property Managers & Insurance
Before any contractor steps onto your property, request a Certificate of Insurance (COI) that names you as an additional insured. We issue COIs within 24 hours , no follow-up required.
Manufacturer - Authorized Services
Manufacturer-authorized service means you get genuine parts, factory warranty support, and trained technicians. Substitute parts void your warranties on critical equipment. We are authorized by Amerex, Hochiki, and Stat-X
